Why does What For? need Screen Time access?

It uses Apple’s permission to restrict the apps you select and temporarily allow them for the time you choose. It does not read content inside those apps.

How do I open an app after the restriction screen?

Tap to write a purpose, then tap the notification to open What For?. Write your purpose and choose a time limit. After the unlock finishes, return to the selected app from the Home Screen. What For? does not switch apps automatically.

What if I cannot find the notification?

Check Notification Center or open What For? directly from your Home Screen. If notifications are disabled, you can still open What For? yourself. End-time and reflection reminders require notification permission.

Does the app contain ads?

Yes. The first guided session is ad-free. Later unlocks use a rewarded-ad step. The main app can also show ads on Home, in Records and after reflections. Screen Time extensions, widgets and notifications do not display ads. Ad availability depends on your connection and region.

Why is my selected app not restricted?

Check Screen Time permission, your selected apps and whether restrictions are enabled in What For?. Open What For? once and try your selected app again. If the issue continues, contact support with your device, iOS version and the steps that led to it.

What if an app stays open after the time limit?

Open What For? to check expired sessions and reapply restrictions. If the issue continues, review your selected apps and Screen Time permission. iOS, device settings and other Screen Time apps can affect the behavior.

Does the developer receive my purposes or messages?

Written purposes, notes, selected-app names and app tokens are not sent to Firebase or added to ad requests. Firebase collects usage and diagnostic events; you can stop collection in Settings. AdMob handles advertising-related data. The privacy policy explains the distinction.

How can I remove my local data?

Use the delete-all-history-and-settings option in What For? Settings. Deleting local records does not itself request deletion of analytics already sent to Google. Contact support for privacy questions.

Is this a parental-control or medical app?

What For? is for managing your own phone habits. It is not a parental-monitoring service and does not provide diagnosis or treatment.
